A number of questions pop up now and then:

What is the weather like in [fill in month]?
There is a table with climate data here. Of course these are average values; we have been enjoying the sun two weeks in February and drenched in late April. But even in the winter, you normally see a bit of blue sky every day - the rain often comes as showers. High summer can be hot, but this is normally offset by the see breeze.

Is the house safe for children?
We have done our best, but we know very well that children can be more ingenious than you imagine. There is a gate in front of the pool, gates for the stairs, and also a gate to the road.

Do we need a car?
That depends on you... We had one family staying who were perfectly happy just using the bikes. Everything tends to be at least a couple of km away, so consider your energy levels, time of year (May is different from August!) and if you have small children with you. Taxi from Faro Airport is €20-25.

How do we get to the Algarve?
Depending on where you live, Easyjet has direct flights to Faro. We would also like to mention Air Berlin, they do a lot of flights with connection at Palma de Majorca; their connections are some of the best we have experienced anywhere and they used to fly all year. TUIFly and TransAvia also flies here. Finally, TAP usually does connections over Lisbon, and often at prices that compare to the low-cost airlines. You can also consider flying to Lisbon and driving down, the road is good and outside August there is little traffic.

Can you recommend a car rental company?
We normally use Lastminute.com ourselves. You very rarely find anything cheaper, and they offer a Damage Excess Waiver which is cheaper than what you get directly by the car hire company. The last four times at Faro we have got cars from Sixt, which is fine.

Can I pay by credit card?
Sorry, but no. We had one service with very poor reliability (less than 50% of guests succeeded), and Paypal ends up costing us 6-7% of the total, which we find a rip-off.

Can I pay by cheque/money order?
Sorry, but no again. We have had too many attempted frauds to even consider it, mostly along these lines. Bank transfers are more secure for the sending party too.

Can we arrive before 1500?
If there is no-one leaving the same day, no problem. Otherwise we need the time to tidy the house for you.
